Digital proof and prepress

The colorimetric digital proof is said contract proof when made from the PDF file and in accordance with international standards ISO 12647 for Offset printing.
Time stamp, Rip name, paper and simulation profile’s name must appear on the proof.

 

Simulation and colour conversion for magazines

The simulation profile and/or colorimetric conversion profile is:

  • If it’s known beforehand that ads are being printed in Offset :
    ISOcoated_v2_300_eci (ISO Coated FOGRA 39L)
  • If it’s known beforehand that ads are being printed in Helliogravure:
    Consult the corresponding advertising agency website in charge of advertising space.
  • If it isn’t known beforehand if ads are being printed in Offset or Helliogravure:
    Consult the corresponding advertising agency website in charge of advertising space.

 

Simulation and colour conversion for newspapers

The simulation profile and/or colorimetric conversion profile is:

  • ISO Newspaper 26v4 for waterless Offset process

The proof must include a MediaWedge V2 control bar/strip and later versions.

Prepress technical standards

MAGAZINES
NEWSPAPER
Ad at the size of the magazine: +10mm
edge in addition to the trimmed size
(5mm for bleed and 5mm for trim marks)
Ad without marks or bleed.
No edge addition.
The size of the file is the same as the size of the ad
Cover ink density (UCR)* must not Exceed 300%
Cover ink density (UCR)* must not Exceed 240%
Images at 300dpi
Images at 200dpi minimum
Images in CMYK without colour profiles incorporated
Divide Bendays into CMYK
No spot colour. No compressed files.
No DCS files
Do not use the Multiple Master fonts and CID. Do not use Bold or Italic style but use the Bold or italic version of your fonts.
The knockout texts can’t be smaller than body 8, half bold and without serif fonts in order to guarantee a good readability.
Illustrator: beware of Illustrator bugs on transparencies and masks. (Window:object options)
Logos of blended format must be flattened.
Be aware of blended formats with over 256 levels of colour. Better if rasterized.
